Don't Just Work Here, Name It! Call Dibs!
Get ready to “Call Dibs!" on a piece of UCO. We're launching our exciting new faculty and staff giving initiative: Dibs: Claim It, Name It, Give!
Dibs: See What It's All About!
Campus landmarks such as the Nigh University Center, Mitchell Hall, and Plunkett Park honor the generosity of donors who believe in UCO. Now, it's your turn to join them and temporarily "name" a unique campus location – for yourself, your partner, your incredible department, or anyone you want to commemorate!
Choose from dozens of options on campus, from a room or lawn space to a flagpole or building, or even a tree or bench. Your gift will directly support our campus through one of the three focus funds, Central Pantry, Bronchos Helping Bronchos, or UCO Cares, or the fund of your choice.
Your name (or chosen name!) will be displayed with a fun sign across campus from October 2-31. It's a fantastic way to show your UCO pride and inspire others! Ready to make your mark? Scroll down to secure your spot today!
The ability to call dibs ends at midnight Tuesday, September 30.
Refer to our FAQ page or contact Gabrielle Young in the Office for Advancement with any questions.

Help students and employees who need it most
Dibs is intended to be a fun initiative for faculty and staff, fostering camaraderie, but It is also impactful because it helps students and employees who need it most. Your gift, no matter the size, makes a direct impact to fill the ongoing needs of these support programs.
- Central Pantry: Serving between 700 and 1,200 individuals monthly, Central Pantry is a crucial resource for our community. Last academic year alone, 4,200 visits provided support to over 10,000 people. This demonstrates a significant and growing need: over the past five years, pantry check-ins have surged by 250%, and the total number of people served has increased by 230%.
- Bronchos Helping Bronchos: Since 2020, 517 students have received crucial emergency financial assistance through the Bronchos Helping Bronchos fund. This fund is designed to eliminate unexpected barriers that could otherwise jeopardize a student's ability to remain enrolled, covering essential needs like medication, car repairs, and textbooks. The demand for this assistance consistently exceeds our available resources, highlighting a significant ongoing need within our student community.
- UCO Cares: 35 faculty and staff members have received emergency financial support through UCO Cares. Similar to our student support programs, the need for this vital assistance is constant, and with additional funding, we could extend support to even more employees facing unforeseen crises.
These three support funds do phenomenal work on UCO’s campus, but they have ongoing, growing needs that require our support.
Dibs Guidelines
To ensure proper stewardship, consistency, and respect for existing designations, please adhere to the following guidelines for all temporary commemorative naming requests related to our October initiative:
- Approval Required: All proposed names and their associated locations are subject to final approval by the Office for Advancement. A representative will contact you if there is an issue with your name or location.
- Exclusion of Previously Named Spaces: Locations or campus fixtures that have been permanently designated or previously named in honor of an individual or entity are not eligible for this temporary commemorative naming program. This includes, but is not limited to, designated buildings, rooms, benches, or other features, such as the Nigh University Center, Plunkett Park, and the Lillard Administration Building.
- Commemorative Naming Only: Please understand that "claiming" or "calling dibs" on a location through this initiative does not grant exclusive usage rights or reserve the space for any individual or group. This program is for commemorative naming purposes only, signified by a temporary sign displayed for the month of October.
