Spend an unforgettable evening with New York Times best-selling author and renowned historian Paul Hutton, recipient of the 2026 Wrangler Award from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, as he visits the University of Central Oklahoma to discuss his newest book, "The Undiscovered Country."

On April 13, 2026, UCO will host two special events at the Nigh University Center—a public book talk and an exclusive dinner experience—offering unique opportunities to engage with Hutton and explore the stories behind his acclaimed work.

Proceeds from the evening’s dinner event will support the History/Museum Studies Paid Internship Award, which provides essential funding for UCO students completing research-based internships at museums, archives and historic sites.

Begin the afternoon with an engaging public conversation as Paul Hutton discusses his newest book, "The Undiscovered Country"—a sweeping exploration of the American West and the stories that shaped it.

This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of the nation’s most respected historians.

Attendees may pre-order an autographed copy of the book during registration.

An Evening in The Undiscovered Country — Dinner Experience

Continue the evening with an exclusive dinner experience celebrating history, storytelling and Oklahoma’s rich cultural heritage.

The evening will feature:

  • Curated cocktails
  • A four-course Oklahoma-inspired artisan menu
  • A special final course paired with an intimate conversation with Paul Hutton about the inspiration and research behind "The Undiscovered Country"
  • This unique event offers guests a rare opportunity to connect with the author in a more personal setting while supporting student opportunities through UCO’s History and Museum Studies program.

Seating is limited and registration is required.

Table sponsorships are available for the dinner experience and include:

  • Eight guest tickets to the dinner event
  • An autographed copy of The Undiscovered Country for each guest

Registration for both events closes April 6.

All participants may pre-order autographed copies of "The Undiscovered Country" during registration.

There will not be a public book signing. Pre-ordered copies through this event are the exclusive opportunity to receive a signed edition.
