Join the UCO Alumni Association and faculty facilitators as we discuss two incredible books written by UCO alumni

First book: "A Poet at War: The Story of a World War I Marine" by James P. Gregory, Jr.
At the age of 22, Otis Wilbra Joslyn, Jr., enlisted in the Marine Corps on Feb. 20, 1917, before the U.S. officially declared war. During his training and time in Europe, Otis mailed letters to his family that describe his experiences during training, his deployment overseas, and stories of combat. Otis also kept the letters his father and mother sent him during the war. These, paired with Otis's letters and excerpts from a diary in which he recorded every location the 83rd Company, 6th Marine Regiment visited, provide a fascinating look into his life during his three years of service.

Second book: "Crimes of Redemption" by Linda McDonald
When a burglary goes bad, the end result leaves two men dead. Gayla Early knows who did the first murder but now she's wanted for the second... and it turns out her supposed victim is the most powerful man in town, the same man she blames for the first murder. Albert Raeder may be dead, but he wields power from the grave thanks to the good 'ol boys he left behind. His buddies want someone to pay for his death. And Gayla looks good for taking the fall. That is until a crotchety recluse and Vietnam vet-turned-sheriff team up on her behalf, an unlikely alliance that will change their lives forever.
