Maddy joined Central in 2009 and served as a professor in the Department of Educational Sciences, Foundations and Research, where he taught courses for teacher education majors, including Foundations of American Education and Child Psychology.

Maddy was a longtime faculty advisor to the UCO Prospective Teacher Academy and the UCO Students for an Accessible Society (SAS). He also served on the Edmond Public Transit Advisory Committee and the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council, through which he advocated for a more accessible and inclusive community for all.
