How to Download the UCO Fight Song

Read below for instructions on how to add the UCO Fight Song to your Android device or iPhone.

Android Phone Instructions

  1. Connect your Android phone to your computer using a USB cable. Unlock your screen if it's locked.
  2. Open your device's storage. If you are using Windows, you can find your Android phone in the Computer/My Computer window. If you're using OS X, the Android phone will appear on your desktop, but you will need to download and install the Android File Transfer program first.
  3. Open the Ringtones folder. The location of this may vary depending on the phone you are using. It is most commonly found in the base folder for your device, but may also be found at /media/audio/ringtones.
    • If you don't have a Ringtones folder, you can create one in the base folder of your phone. Right-click on a blank space in your phone's root directory and click "Create new" and then "Folder."
  4. Copy the ringtone file into the Ringtones folder. You can click and drag the file from your computer to the Ringtones folder, or you can right-click it and select "Copy" and then right-click in the Ringtones folder and select "Paste."
  5. Disconnect your phone after the ringtone transfers. The transfer process should only take a moment.
  6. Open the Settings app on your phone and select "Sound."
  7. Tap the "Phone ringtone" or "Ringtone" option. Select your tone from the list. The ringtone will be displayed by its filename.

iPhone Instructions

Launch the iTunes App. Start iTunes on your Mac or Windows computer. To make a ringtone, it's not necessary to connect to your iTunes Store account since you'll be working with an MP3 file located on your own hard drive.

Add the MP3 to iTunes. Unless your MP3 file is already in your iTunes library, you'll need to add it. Click the "File" menu and select "Add to Library." Locate the MP3 file with the Open File dialog box, select the song and click the "Open" button to import the MP3 file to iTunes.

Convert the MP3 File. Click the "File" menu. Select "Convert." A list of options appears. Select "Create AAC Version." iTunes creates a new entry in the Songs library of the same track; this file is not an MP3 but is in Apple's AAC format. Select "Song Info" and click "Options" again for your MP3 file. Uncheck the check boxes next to the start and stop times for the file, then click OK; otherwise iTunes will play only a short part of the song.

Rename the File. In iTunes, highlight the name of the new file, right-click on it, and select "Show in Finder." On a Windows computer, the equivalent option is "Show in Windows Explorer." Change the file extension (the last three characters of the filename after the dot) from m4a to the m4r file type. For now, leave the Finder/Explorer window open.

Connect your iPhone. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. The iPhone should appear in iTunes under "Devices." Under the iPhone, you should see a set of icons including a bell, which is the phone's ringtones. Click the bell icon to open a window of custom ringtones.

Copy the File. Click the Finder/Explorer window, select your newly created file and drag it into the ringtones window. The file should appear in the iTunes list under "Tones" and will automatically sync to your iPhone.

Verify the Ringtone. On your iPhone, tap the "Settings" app. Scroll down to "Sounds" and tap it. In the "Sounds" screen, scroll down to "Ringtone" and tap it. Scroll up to the top of the list of ringtones. Your new custom ringtone should appear in the list.
