Don Betz, Ph.D., 20th president of the University of Central Oklahoma, will retire on June 30, 2019.  He has led our university through challenging economic times with a vision for the future unlimited by circumstances. Under his leadership, the university has grown in serving many first-generation students, students of color, students whose first language is not English and many other underserved student populations. UCO has firmly established itself as a beacon of hope for many and is respected widely across state as “Oklahoma’s Metropolitan University.”

As a gift to commemorate his service to the University of Central Oklahoma, we felt the most meaningful way to honor him and his contributions to higher education would be to endow a chair in his name.  The Don Betz Endowed Chair in International Studies will support teaching in a field that is very dear to him and will honor him for generations to come. 

The holder of the Don Betz Endowed Chair in International Studies will be an esteemed faculty member known for her/his contributions to the field.
